HOW CALLS WORK
How Calls Work
One Newark number for roof repairs, replacements, flat roofs, slate and gutters. This is what a call looks like.
The Call, Step by Step
- You call (973) 528-8938. There are no forms.
- You describe the roof and the problem. What kind of building it is, what you see and where.
- Your call goes to a participating roofing contractor that works in your part of Newark or the nearby towns.
- From there, it's the contractor's job. It looks at the roof, explains the work and the price, and schedules with you directly.
What Newark NJ Roofing Does and Doesn't Do
Newark NJ Roofing is a phone line and website. It isn't a roofing contractor, and nobody from Newark NJ Roofing comes to your property or works on your roof. The contractors are independent businesses. Each one prices its own jobs, keeps its own schedule and answers for its own workmanship.
Checking a New Jersey Roofing Contractor
- Registration. New Jersey requires home improvement contractors, roofers included, to register every year with the Division of Consumer Affairs. Ask for the registration number and look it up with the Division's license lookup.
- Insurance. Ask for proof of liability coverage in writing, and workers' compensation if the company has employees.
- A written contract. It should describe the work, the materials, the price and payment terms, and who pulls any permit.
- Permits. Detached one- and two-family homes usually don't need a permit to replace roof coverings, but attached homes, three-family and larger buildings, and deck or structural work generally do. Ask who handles it.
- Red flags. Door-to-door offers right after a storm, pressure to sign on the spot, large cash deposits, no registration number, or promises about what your insurer will pay.
How the Site Is Paid
Calling costs you nothing. The site may be paid by a contractor or marketing partner when a call reaches one of them, and calls may be recorded for quality and billing. Details are on the Disclaimer.
